Careers in Early Intervention: What OTs, PTs, and SLPs Should Know

What a career in pediatric early intervention looks like for licensed occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech-language pathologists in Los Angeles.

Early intervention is one of the most rewarding settings in pediatric therapy. You work with children from birth to three — the years when development moves fastest — and you work alongside the families who will carry each strategy forward.

What the work looks like

  • In-person visits in homes, day-cares, and community settings — no clinic and no telehealth.
  • Coaching parents and caregivers as partners, not just treating the child.
  • Writing goals tied to the family's own routines and priorities.
  • Collaborating with regional center coordinators and other disciplines on the child's team.

Who thrives in early intervention

  • Licensed clinicians who enjoy working independently in the field.
  • Therapists with strong pediatric and early-intervention experience.
  • People who are comfortable on the floor, flexible with real-life settings, and great with families.
  • Clinicians who value play as the main tool for change.

Who we're hiring

Every Child Achieves is currently accepting applications only from licensed California Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists with extensive pediatric and early-intervention experience. We do not have current Child Development Specialist openings, and we do not offer internships, fieldwork, or volunteer positions.

Eligible employees of our government-funded organization may pursue federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness; forgiveness is not guaranteed and depends on each person's own eligibility.
